For mine they called my friend (the same day they called me) for a discussion, but they sent my sister in law a letter asking her to call them? Is that standard practice, or do they do that when they have a hard time contacting someone?

They call and ask some routine questions, some redundancies from the paperwork, "have you lost your job, are you an alcoholic" etc.

I mailed mine mid January, reference #1 was called a month later, same day as my phone interview. Reference #2 was mailed a letter and asked to call in, that was about 2 weeks later. Once she did that it was only a few more days for the status to change to approved, and I had the card in my hand...

@jonanddad, I have to ask, what the eff is up with the Moon Lander game in the arcade? I played through 5 minutes worth of it several times and it won't register a score! I know, I know - I'll go get a life right after this.

Is there also a link somewhere to the PDF version of the PAL/RPAL books for the courses? That would be a handy thing to have in this thread as well.
