Since we got power, it's the rebuild time. Made a list of what we need to restock, and what we need to do next time.

I think we did well.. Food survived, and the pets, so.

I have run a regular old Coleman stove on Canadian gasoline (regular 87 octane) for a weekend with no problems. I cant guarantee its ok to do it...just that Ive done it and it was ok
The following article pretty much confirms what you said. At the end of the article there are some grainy videos on maintaining these stoves and one on something I had never seen before, making white gas from unleaded gasoline!

    Thanks for that!
Hunting season is coming up and the Coleman heaters in the blinds need fuel.
$23 a gallon for Coleman fuel makes the idea of distilling your own seem worth it.
I guess you'd have to be careful to use gas that doesn't have any ethanol, or maybe it would boil off first and you could just separate it?

Distill the ethanol first and drink it.
    What could possibly go wrong?
Why does the rest of the country get first dibbs on half my income?

I saw it for $23.00 a gallon at Canadian Tire. I was at the Petro Canada bulk depot the other day and they had it for $14.00 a gallon

It was a rectangular metal container like the ones I used to buy it in in the 1970s. Only difference was it now has a plastic childproof lid.

Yourube tells me that just running a bunch of water into the fuel will pull the alcohol out of it.
Let it settle and pour out the water and methanol.
    Pure gasoline with additives.
Distill gasoline to remove all the additives, without blowing yourself up.
$14 a gallon is looking quite attractive, if I can find it around here.
