Two guys I went to high school with were nearly killed by this. Girlfriend dumped some household cleaners down the kitchen sink when she couldn’t find the draino and left for work. They came over to pop a couple beers and found it. When she got home from work they were both keeled over at the kitchen table.

I'm really looking forward to this! I have a pair of Baofeng UV-5R sitting in a box that I bought a while back in anticipation. I booked an online Basic course (https://www.rac.ca/radio-amateurs-of...radio-courses/) and have the book coming in the mail.

I will sound like a total wet behind the ears newb here but eyeglasses! Our house is well stocked with everything including any needed meds but as I was walking the back field yesterday I felt a pop at my temple and then my one lens fell out.

No problem finding the lens, that teeny screw, not going to happen. Spare set ordered and they left a little hardware for me outside in a Ziplock bag. Also found that stainless safety wire works in a pinch.

Would not want to face things if they where a little squirrelly not being able to see properly, with the wife’s readers on lol....

^^ Yeah, I ordered a couple boxes of contact lenses when this all started. I’ve been meaning to get on Clearly and order up a new set of glasses for backup. The old ones are getting pretty ratty, lenses are scratched all to hell.

I did it 7 or 8 years ago. I did it to correct near sightedness....couldnt see things far away. Afterward I could spot a deer at 2 miles but instantly needed reading glasses. Reading glasses at Costco are 3 pairs for 20 bucks. Being able to buy regular sun glasses, see in rhe rain, and not fogging up when coming inside in the winter is priceless.

Did laser surgery back in 2008. Better than 20/20 for about 8 years. Not as good now...mostly because of age. Everything close is spot on but need mild prescription for distance, but that screws up my close up vision. I'm one of those guys always looking over the top of their glasses when holding something close.
Had horrendous astigmatism that was corrected and is still good. Thought about getting a 'touch up'....but the old-meter rolls over to 50 this August. Not sure if it is a good idea?

But great idea about extra eyewear and a repair kit.
