To be honest, I've never even looked at one of those Instant pot things. I've heard lots of people mention them. I assume they're some kind of pressure cooker ? As far as replacing an All American pressure cooker/canner with anything else on the market...forget it. If the All American stuff is the Tiger Tank of the pressure canner world, everything else is a modern day VW Beetle by comparison. The thing is ultra thick, ultra heavy, and doesn't require any seals because it seals with a machined tapered neck. Nothing else on the market holds a candle to them for durability.

No. It's not even close to being almost the same thing. You don't can with an Instant Pot.

Apparently the “Max” MAY be able to. McGill is apparently currently or previously testing it through three test. I can’t find the actual report or it’s conclusions.

For Max Canning, Instant Pot is currently working with McGill University, a 3rd party food science research facility to validate the Max meets canning regulations. There are 3 phases to the process, (1) Validating the temperatures, (2) Canning food (low and high-acid) and verifying post-canning result, and (3) Potentially, developing new canning times for certain food groups.

We can confirm phase 1 has been completed and the “Low Pressure” 230F (110C) setting sustains an average temperature between 110 and 111C which can be for high-acid canning foods. With “Max Pressure” we can confirm a sustained temperature of 240-247F (116.5-119C) for low-acid canning foods.

When canning, recipes must be closely followed, modifying cooking times, ingredients or temperatures can be dangerous.

I'm starting to build a 24'x30' greenhouse. Hope to have an aquaculture/hydroponic setup in the future.

I filled up the wood shed (tent shelter thingy) and stacked a bunch more beside it. There's now about 3 cord of firewood within 6 feet of the loading door into the basement. Ive still got about 2 cord sitting on the other side of my plastic shed, but there just isnt room for it any closer to the door. I figured either I try to keep a path clear and load it all into the wheel barrow to move it in the freezing cold....OR.....move it within grabbing distance while I can still wear a tee shirt. I opted for the latter. If you look in the last picture where Im pointing....the loading door is on the other side of the chimney pipe.
