My father just called me, a couple dogs got into the pen and killed all but a couple chickens, who need to be put down. So basically a dozen chickens they killed.
Lost the occasional ones to foxes, but whenever a couple dogs get together - they slaughter every chicken they can.
the wild still lingered in him and the wolf in him merely slept

    Ducklings 2 days old.

We hatched these ones out ourselves, tomorrow another 20+ are going in for hatching.

I keep telling my wife we need to dig a pond for some ducks.
Maybe if I put them in the tub she'll come around...

Yeah, they do. But when I tell people i used to shoot wild dogs, they sometimes get pissy.

I like the power pole idea. I used 1x6 twenty some years ago and they need replaced. Also the chicken we set pissed around so much no eggs hatched.

Tomorrow is the day for the meat birds to go in the freezer.
My youngest daughter was just giving them a pep talk

Ours were invited to a party at Hughenden colony on Wednesday.
Lightest was 6.9lbs(leg problems), heaviest 9.2(a rooster they snuck in) averaged about 8.25. Absolutely amazing uniformity across the group. The growth rate of the Cornish giants is horror movie worthy, they were exactly 84 days.

The only issues we had was moving them from their indoor pen to the outdoor one. Apparently catching them, walking 30 feet and setting them back down outside stressed a couple a bit too much. Two died that night. I’m assuming heart attacks.

I think that’s what I’ll use again next year, or a mix of giants and western rustics.
