Jerry Miculek - SKS complete review and history with Jerry Miculek

    Never seen that loading technique.

Comments are interesting - can't believe SKS's going for $300 in the US. Say what?

Also - he goes into an interesting history back to WWII and made a quib I thought interesting comparing the Nagant and SKS to the M1 Garand and Carbine.

"Talking to the old combat veterans, especially on the beach landings and fighting in the jungles, they said you'd see M1 Garands and BAR's and Thompson lying on the ground, but you'd never see a .30 carbine laying anywhere, it was a very popular battle rifle - carbine."

Wonder if I should pick one up.

SKS can go for even higher down South apparently....lack of access to many Russian and Chinese made firearms by legislation. I think it's probably the biggest reason we wound up becoming a Norinco marketplace. And a dumping ground for 'Red' guns. Not that the safe full of Russian surplus is complaining......

I would happily gift an SKS to any American if we got to trade ammo/gun prices for everything else.

Also, rumour has it that a handful of 'trial' SKS rifles made it into the very last days of WWII. I don't know that there's actual confirmation of this, everything about the Soviets was pretty secret squirrel when Uncle Joe was in charge. There were several rifles in contention to replace the SVT (Mosin production and the M44 being largely wartime stopgap measures when the SVT proved unsuitable and slow to manufacture), and the SKS we know and love didn't get it's final stamp of approval until very late or even after the German surrender. At any rate, they are great guns if you can accept them for what they are, that's why there's three in the basement at last count.

Me either. Trust Jerry to pick up a gun he's never used before and right away use it better than the average guy before he even fires it!

To get around the Assault Rifle Ban. 'Cuz crazies usually go all stabby stabby when they're on a rampage.

I think it's awesome. It makes him look really folksie - despite being one of the most hardcore bad arse on the planet.

You can get half decent shot timer apps on your smartphone, but not Jerry - he uses the giant brick timer that gives him cred as a long time shooter.

It also promotes the competitive aspect of shooting.

I started timing and watching my splits after watching his vids

Never bring an unloaded fixed bayonet rifle to a loaded rifle fight :P
