They can still do that for PAL holders every five years and then revoke the license as necessary. Still no need for it to expire. It is just a money grab IMO (I'm not humble).

And is it just me or does the CGC end every statement with some version of "blood will flow in the streets"?

Chicken little and the boy who cried wolf had a love child, and her name is Wendy.

You'd think there was a lesson to be learned there.

Of course there is no real defending an indefensible position. Circle up and await the inevitable end, and hope for rescue (in the form of a fresh mass grave to ghoulishly leap on to).

I wonder how strong the ideology really is there, or if it has simply become an easy payday...

Yep they would lose their $80 per license, that roughly equates to $160 mil, if you assume all 2 mil license holders will renew.

Spread out over a five year period though, that's probably peanuts to the government budget. Plus you'd save the wages of a handful of office employees doing renewals....

The best new example is the Shawn Rehn case. This guy spent most of his life in jail. Yet he gets 1 day sentences for crimes that I would get 6 months for. He's a person who the system has no idea what to do with. It ends with a cop getting killed. All the weak folks out there looking for easy solutions chase us into prison yet no one can solve the real threats. Ask all the idiots who step up to voice an opinion on lawful gun ownership what we should do with people who can't be reformed. What do you do with people like this?

I may look patient but man it's difficult when I have to deal with these anti-gun types when this is the state of our system.

    Sun News Article, quote.

According to Alberta Justice, Shawn Rehn had 98 convictions and outstanding charges against him — 98! And yet he was free to be at the tables at the Apex casino at 3:00 in the morning on Saturday when officers Wynn and Bond come by to investigate a stolen vehicle complaint.

Rehn had a gun despite what Comm. Paulson describe as “multiple, overlapping, firearms prohibitions.”

And Rehn had a handgun, which is hard to acquire legally even if you don’t have a lifetime ban on possessing a firearm, which Rehn did.
