    Here is an interesting question. What would the can be called if it had been developed elsewhere? Jerry was the nickname for the Germans but does not have the racial stigma attached that other nationalities have.

    Another thought on the subject, re-reading the article, if the Germans hadn't invented it prior to the outbreak of hostilities, would their 'Blitzkrieg' have petered out without adequate refuelling? Leading to a much swifter loss or years of stalemate warfare like WWI? The can may never have become popular without them.....
