I just loaded and chronoed some 45-70 loads- A hugh stuffing of H322 behind a 525 gr Beartooth Piledriver gave me a avg of 1655 FPS ! Recoil was harsh ! Rem

You people are all sick. 45-70 is a Black Powder cartridge.

Remington: I am a complete putz on the computer and don't know how to post pics or I'd post pics. of all my riggin', I can barely log-in.....
Arancio: I agree with you completely and have a couple of .45/70s that use BP loads exclusively, including long range work, it's just for hunting that I have a better BP formula...50/90 X 540gr FP X 105grs. Swiss 1 1/2fg. = meat in the freezer!

How did I miss this one?? A bunch of very tame loads velocity wise. These went through a Handi rifle, and are low pressure loads, except for the Unique and Blue Dot loads.

    Lee mold 405 grain bullet
    42 grains Varget-1200 fps
    14 grains Unique-1190 fps
    20 grains Blue Dot-1385 fps
    46 grains IMR-4064-1425 fps
    30 grains IMR-4198-1265 fps
All the above loads shoot well, especially the Blue Dot, and IMR-4064.

    Lee mold 500 grain
    14 grains Blue Dot-1010 fps
    40 grains IMR-4064-1170 fps
    30 grains Reloader-7-1205 fps
    40 grains IMR-4895-1150 fps
    All shoot pretty good.
