    What's up with gophers 2015 ?

Is it just me, or is there a serious lack of gophers this year ? I'd normally see them all over the place by now given the weather. So far, not a one. Is this mother natures way of saying winter is still coming back with a vengeance, or what ? Was there a gopher catastrophe last year I didn't hear about ? We didn't get that much snow this winter, and over all it was ridiculously mild here in Edmonton.

    Thoughts ?

It happened out in our country already last year. Whole patches just weren't there anymore last spring. Have seen some around this year, but don't know of any real good patches in the area.
I wondered if there is ever a disease that gets to whole populations. At our place last spring, three patches, which I keep shot down but there's always "seed" left, were completely empty. Mile or so between them, but I suppose could still be some epidemic. Or perhaps environmental factors as you suggest....

Not much for gophers here, but I did see an unusually large muskrat walking up the sidewalk yesterday afternoon
