Need help with calibre casting a barrel in Calgary

Hey guys I'm planning on cerrosafe casting a barrel to sort out what calibre it is this weekend. But I'm gonna need some help once it's done. Anyone have a copy of Cartridge's of the world book or such who would be willing to look it up for me once it's cast.
Or if anyone is in the area who would be willing to help I'm open to as well.

And for those interested this is what I'll be playing with

    Thanks all

Just gorgeous, I can't wait to figure out what it really is.
Once you get it done, post up the measurements and we should be able to figure it out quick enough.

I have posted pic's of the markings in another thread, it's marked as a 6.5 mil but that's it. I had thought it was 6.5x52r but the rim size is to large. the rim size on the bolt does like the rim on a 6.5 swed. So I know that will be a happy rim size but the swed has a tapered case so it will not chamber all the way. the measurement with the callipers is the bore size at the rim is 0.425" but of course I'm going to need to the casting to sort out the shoulder and the like.

It is a modell 1900 (yes the 2 l's are what's stamped on the top of the barrel), alto it is marked as Steyr 1901 on the side.

And yep I'll be happy to post here.

    Thanks

For those who would like pics, oh ya I've got em. I have to say the process was easier than I was expecting and used waaaaay less material then I was prepared for. The cerrosafe is really neat to work with I was surprised at just how fast it cooled and set.
So on with the show, item in question:

The measurements were taken apx 5-10 min after poured, removed casting apx 3-5 min after casting

Ok so upon looking at this some more I get the feeling I'm chasing my tail. what started me down the rabbit hole was I had picked up a set up snap caps for the 6.5 swed and it would not chamber by about a 1/4". As I found out basicly the base of it was too fat. But the rim and the like on it are captured by the bolt just fine. and putting the snap cap next to the casting and it looks like a match

So I have to ask the question did I just get a bad snap cap set..... but the info I have on the swed is that the base is 0.479 which would be why it will not fully chamber.... so it there such a thing as a skinny swed

    From: http://www.chuckhawks.com/6-5mm_family.htm
European hunters have always favored 6.5mm cartridges and European factory loaded 6.5mm cartridges include the 6.5x54mm M-S, 6.5x55mm SE, 6.5x57mm Mauser, 6.5x58R, 6.5x61mm Mauser, 6.5x65mm RWS and 6.5x68mm RWS (Schluer). In addition, there are rimmed (R) versions of the 6.5x57, 6.5x61, 6.5x65 and 6.5x68 intended for use in single shot rifles, double rifles and combination guns (drillings). There are also several obsolete or obscure European cartridges that are beyond the purview of this article.

I think it may fall into the bolded part, above.
It looks a bit like an Italian Carcano, but it's 0.100" short.
It's an almost perfect match for for 6.5x54 MS, but it's almost exactly 1/8" short.
You didn't have something stuck to the boltface when you made the casting, did you?

I have gotten a sample case of a 6.5x54 ms and it is a beautiful fit. so I'll be picking up a box of ammo for it and then I'll find out if this is still in shootable condition. I don't see anything on the rifle to suggest otherwise but I'm a fan of I'll use string for the first shot

So the only question is what is a expected amount of head space for a rifle round. With this round I'm getting about 5 thousandths difference in the diameter at both the base of the case and at the shoulder, and the head space for the bolt face to case is about as close to not there as I can tell.
Take a look and let me know.
