Best scope under or around $1000?

With my newly acquired Weatherby Mark V, I am in need of some decent glass. I'm looking for a low end of about 2-4x and high end of 9-12x in the variable scope range.

Right now, I'm leaning towards the trijicon accupoint.

I've got about $1000 to spend.

I'm planning on using Talley Lightweights. This will be a mountain hunting rifle.

What you you buy given the same budget and intended use?

Looks like the tr20 is just in your price point. I'd stay away fro the simple post reticle however. I'd pick something with a bdc or offers a custom bdc knob like many of the leupold. This one is nice http://www.theammosource.com/index.p...oducts_id=3284 the vx-r patrol if the link doesn't work.

Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x, you have all the low end you need for close up shots and enough magnification to go out to 500 yards. More importantly it comes with matching reticle & turrets and can be had in MOA or Mills.

Reticle and turret adjustments are a big deal that's often overlooked. It's very hard to range a target and dial accordingly with a simple duplex cross hair, even harder when reticle and turrets are not matching or are in IPHY. BDC reticles are a bit gimmicky, they won't be spot on and it's hard to adjust from something to something if you don't know for sure where the from something was to begin with.

If you want BDC cues make a dope chart for your rifle/ammo and tape it to your stock.

Suggest the Vortex for quality and solid warranty.

Geez, this is an old thread.

I solved my problem by going with a Leupold VX-3i. Came in under my price point with absolutely no issues.
