    Who still uses gun safes

Gun safes are good to keep kids out
Gun safes do not keep robbers out.
I have been burglarizes 3 time in 20 years and caught them all.
How, I use a gun safe for bait.
I load my safe with bricks/cinder blocks so the crooks have something to play with until the police come.
I installed trip switches and that dials who ever is listed in the auto dialer.
I have home made carpet mines that with a flip of a switch the whole house is on guard.

Example: 1 is the worst, the lower the # the better.

I've got a 300lb safe bolted to a stud. If thieves manage to carry that off or break it open I've done my part for public safety.

But yeah, the main reason I have it is to keep kids out of it.
Our freedoms ARE the greater good.

safe behind a picture is sooooo cliche
the wild still lingered in him and the wolf in him merely slept

Gun safes are not used to keep criminals out of your firearms, gun safes are used to keep firearms owners out of jail.

Well where I got them now is much better then what I used to. Just in the corner of the basement. I got it kinda hidden. But its not my property to really modify ( Damn apartments ). I got dual sliding doors so kinda hard to make lockable w/o being obvious. I could use like "the claw" thats lockable to prevent the doors from opening ( being a junk room its kinda messy ) As kinda a deterrent. Then I got it on 2/4's bolted to the floor. Did my part to try and make it harder.

My gun safe is mostly to protect valuables (including, but not limited to, guns) from a fire or earthquake. It keeps them dry with dehumidifiers and organized for hunting season or a group shoot.

My gun safe is in my shop downstairs. You can barely turn around in there. To get the safe out, youd have move a ton of crap out of the way...my deep freeze....... remove a set of metal shelves that are lag bolted to a wall. Then youd have to figure out how to get it up the steps....and with all the lead bricks in the bottom as well as the guns...the weight of the safe...the weight of 2 guys.....yeeeeah.....those steps are going to collapse and your're going to get killed. Lol. If somebody can actually get it out of here and live to tell the tale, man, they've earned it. Lol.
