    Resolve?

Ok, gentlemen. It is now a good time to "step up to the plate". Time to get "real" or be forever another "internet/mall ninja/forum" warrior. OK, I'll be first... I was trained and served in the RCAF, as part of the "weapons delivery system" of the "cold war". I am a "cold warrior" and very proud of it. I never delivered what I was trained to do.....and that is a very good thing, but that was what we supposed to do. I still have that same "attitude", that the crown developed, for their own purpose.......

We are now faced with an enemy (ISIS) more insidious than the "cold war" ever was, but our now our "progressive" politicians will of course "stand behind us"....of course behind...they are just.......COWARDS. Once I was given...my attitude/training....that cannot be ever taken away, just re-purposed. I'm now old, but I have not forgotten my training, I will never again answer to the "politicians in Ottawa".

The best way to combat young men who want to die, for their religion; is with grandfathers who want to live for their grandchildren.

    Where do you stand, gentlemen/ladies?

Well first off, i'm confiscating your quotation keys from your keyboard

Secondly - what was it you were defending all those years? Was 'democracy' part of it? I should hope so because that's a worthy thing to defend.

So - now that you spent all those years fighting for it, it's time to make it your B*tch.

In the cold war training you took, you must have learned the value of presenting a strong united front. You must have seen the benefit of a 'deterrent' that the enemy is scared of. You probably saw how important it is to be orgnaized and have good discipline and likely noted that having a large, well organized group is one of the keys to success.

Same here. So - get involved. Here's what's going to happen - we ARE going to pick a new leader. We DO have to hold the current 'gov't' to account until we can replace it. We SHOULD bring a great deal of political pressure against that gov't whenever they propose something stupid like bringing in 25 grand worth of refugees at once. And we should be working with the CPC to develop good policy for when they get in again.

Now - if you don't know how to do any of that - pm me and we'll go over it. One man can make a VERY large difference.

As to 'answering' to politicians - you my friend need to respect the democratic process, just as we expect others to when 'our' side wins. If you do not - then you're a complete hypocrite for defending that process all those years. So. Enough with the tough talk - if you want to get into some tough action let me know and i'll point you in the right direction.

I really hate to do it, but I have to agree with you, Foxer. Involved????? I was part of the team that bounced Ann McClelland, "Landslide Annie". Yes, I respect the "democratic process" much more than most, however, I will not sacrifice my children/grandchildren to it. Do I like our current system.......not for a heartbeat.....have I given up on it? No, if they come to my door..........that is a duckshoot. If I was called upon, by the "crown" to deliver on my training and bomb ISIS out of existence.....in that same heartbeat.

But they cannot, they are just sheeple, fleeing in fear of ISIS. I can accept this. If I am forced to accept their fear and the ISIS infiltrators, by our new "progressive' government; that is a whole new game.

LOL good ole 'Annie "grab your guns" mclelland And a worthy goal that was, without a doubt.

But that was a decade ago. Now we face a new threat. And we have to think big picture, not just our own ridings (tho that fight is still as important today as it ever was.)

Yes, I respect the "democratic process" much more than most, however, I will not sacrifice my children/grandchildren to it.
That's not a 'real' thing to say. One way or another you'll have to fight for your children's future - democracy is the easiest and most effective way period. You don't "sacrifice' your kids to it, any more than your parents "sacrificed" their kids by letting you serve in the military.

And you don't abandon it just when the going gets a tad rocky.

What's your other option? Civil war? Yeah - that usually goes fairly well for the civilians, right? I'm sure your kids will be much safer with actual fighting. So what's the alternative? Politics.
If I was called upon, by the "crown" to deliver on my training and bomb ISIS out of existence.....in that same heartbeat.
I'm sure the crown will call if you're needed -but we do have soldiers and sailors and airmen for that now. You have a DIFFERENT job to do to protect the country at this point - and THAT job is to make politics work and to make sure we've got the right people at the helm. That's your job.

If you'd kill people to defend us - then presumably it's not asking too much to 'fight' this way.

That doesn't actually make any sense whatsoever in the context of this conversation. Unless you're suggesting you'd like to emigrate to the moon. I hear the winters are a bit chill.

Well, I can kinda understand your feelings on this, but I guess I'm a tad more pragmatic about it. I served 2 tours in south-east asia back in the day ('67-'70) and I had skills as an Ordnance Specialist that might conceivably be of some use today. BUT..... I know NOTHING of 21st century weaponry, specs or delivery systems. A 'drone' to me is some sort of male bee. Seriously, I am a 69 year-old grandmother - any help I can offer is going to be along the 'Foxer' line of things, unless someone somewhere is still in need of a mechanic for 1960's iron ("dumb") bombs, who hasn't exploded anything in almost 50 years, and goes to bed most nights a 9 o'clock.......
It doesn't take all kinds; we just have all kinds.

Edenchef, can you please be clearer on what you're actually implying that people should do?

What is your call to action, other than being grumpy and not liking a group of people?
