    This be a tale.
Went out to do a bit of scouting and about 1/2 an hour into the drive on my Honda 500 I was checking every water puddle and tire rut for animal tracks. There is a bit of a hill and I stood up on the atv and seen something out of the corner of my left eye. I was looking at a large cougar running in the same direction as I was going. It was 70 feet off in the bush, but the drainage it was running in, intersected with the road 500 feet ahead. No room to turn around so in a short span I was in 4th gear and getting some air under the tires over the bumps. The one time I looked down the speedo read 51 kms an hour. I never did so many shoulder checks in my life as that evening. In all the hast I drove right between a black bear sow and her cub. The sow went one way and the cub went another. The hairs on the back of my neck still haven't laid back down. The kicker is I had no rifle with me. But I will next time. Play safe and be aware, we are food to more that we realize.

Studies have shown that a old male cougar will kill and eat mostly moose. Depending on the area they live in. The mrs and I walk just below the sighting location. Can't wait to tell the boys who are coming to hunt here. LIG

We had a deer walk right out on the range at Edson today. Steve Summit was with me, and says "DONT SHOOT THE DEER" as the damned thing had walked right into my line of fire. LOL. Eventually it calmly walked into the trees and we resumed our day. Less than an hour later, a fish cop shows up. He went to the pistol range to practice with his sidearm. He waved at us and that was it. It's definitely getting to be that time of year again.

Quarter to one in the morning. Crazy week, almost all moose hunting packing had to be condensed into today after 8:30 PM....almost done. Stressing over all the s##t I'm going to realize I didn't bring when I'm four and a half hours into the woods......

Hot as hell for the shorter than I woulda liked moose hunt this year. Other than a few river otters and a billion geese, ducks and swans it was pretty quiet out there. Still, this view for a few mornings kinda makes it worth going....

Also, this. This makes it worth packing all the gear, three and a half hours of driving, overloading a boat and sleeping in the middle of a giant swamp....
