Well, one of the other guys bagged this one a couple days before the rest of the crew arrived,

I got a spiker for roasts, the 257 Bee strikes again:

And the boys racked up another spike and a couple other decent bucks to make five. Stacked them like cordwood in the truck.

And back to Winnipeg, skinning day tomorrow.

A pretty successful couple of days in the woods. One more tag to fill, so a couple of us are probably heading back out next weekend. Should only take about a half hour the way things were going out there.... Still plenty of bucks, and apparently a couple monsters out there if tales around the whiskey table are to be believed....

Oh. Lessons learned. Always park the truck in a spot you can find it after dark, or you will spend an hour searching for it with a flashlight and a compass, leaving the other poor bastard half frozen to death on some godforsaken ridge in the middle of nowhere waiting for a ride. And never shoot a deer anywhere you need to drag it for a kilometre before you can reach it by bike or truck.....we had to learn that one twice....

That garage looks like the one of a guy who lives in Edmonton. Common sense tells you that the best deer are always the hardest to get to the truck.
