I don't like the budget level vortex scopes, budget nikon/leupold do the same better.
The couple horror stories iirc has been with budget priced vortex. Again, from what I recall.

FFP is the way to go in my opinion. Mine is a SFP full mag mean sub tensions are correct half power just means double the subtensions and so on.

Thanks guys.....barring any more information if why I should choose SFP, I think I am going to stick with FFP. While I've never shot FFP it just seems to make sense to me.

Any reticle preferences in LR? Anything I need to have like a bullet drop reticle or MOA vs MIL? Is there any need to be able to range? When looking at the Vortex, I was going to go with the EBR-1 MOA as I was not sure I liked the way the EBR-2 looked.

There are so many fancy reticles these days I can't keep them straight.

What do you really hope to gain by them?

If you want to see a "busy" reticle check out any of the Horus reticles. Probably overkill if you're not shooting into space.

Ammo, camo and things that go "blammo".

That looks like something from a Soviet submarine, more ink than glass and so much calculation you'll never get to take the shot.

I'll stick with my standard duplex.

You can wait for prophet river to have their typical sale and pick up the nsx for 2400 all in. I also heard the pst can be hit and miss. Although nxs is also sfp.

Honestly, I really have no idea where to start with all choices out there. I am not sure what is better/useful or required for LD target vs what is just extra noise and/or bling. When looking at the Vortex, I was leaning towards the EBR-1 MOA as I liked it visually more than the EBR-2 MOA but have no idea which one is actually better......with so many choices it is VERY confusing. When I speak to most people I am told it's a personal choice....I can understand that but, when you have no idea about any of them, how they work or what I will need how can you make a personal choice.

Also, I think I want to use MOA as apposed to MIL but I have to admit I am not nearly fully informed on either system. I almost think it would be better to laser range find and just use the scope solely for the crosshairs!!!!
