I am cooking for myself again. My job sent me to Haida Gwaii again for a couple weeks.
A two hour drive followed by an eight hour ferry ride. This will be my last trip here for work.
    Retirement is not far away.
I took a casserole dish and put a layer of garlic on the bottom followed by perogies.
I covered them with sliced mushrooms and hot peppers and onions and yellow peppers
and a thick layer of cheese. 45 minutes in the oven at 375 degrees and dinner is ready.

Drizzle olive oil and balsalmic vinegar on asparagus, sprinkle a little coarse salt and pepper, throw on bbq for half an hour.
Absolutely wonderful, but it couldn't make up for the $6 steak.
I don't think I've ever had a steak so tough in my life.
I seasoned it beautifully, cooked medium rare, and only ate half because my jaw was starting to hurt from the workout.
Oh well, stew tomorrow I guess.

Spent the last three hours watching the temperature on the bbq and adding mesquite chips as needed. Whole pork loins were pretty cheap at Costco the other day. This is the first 1/3. Made up my own rub and hit it with a little bbq sauce right at the end to give it a little glaze. Went well with bbq’d potato, asparagus and wild rice. It takes three beers to cook this meal start to finish.....

Home made deer breakfast sausage and store bought breakfast sausage. Ate more deer than the other.
