Help! Stuck Lower Tang 30-30 Winchester

    Hey folks,

I've come to seek help from some fellow hunting/gun enthusiasts.

The rifle in question is an old 94 Model Winchester 30-30 lever.

It hasnt been cleaned in years (decades)... after giving it a good spray down and oil, I had trouble with part of the reassembly.

*The hammer is cocked all the way back (perhaps beyond where it should?), and I can not un-cock the spring. I can't push in the safety, move the hammer, or anything.

Does anyone know what on earth I have done, and how to reverse it?

    Thanks

YouTube is your friend, the 94 isn't too difficult. Here is a video to get you started.

You need to push in the lever safety button to be able to release the hammer.
It will take considerable force without the lever there to push it in for you.

Oh I am well aware how helpful youtube can be.... that's how i field stripped the rifle in the first place.

Perhaps the safety is just lodged with something - I'll give it another good soak, and try firing the action again with the tang assembled. That way I can squeeze the lever hard enough. Something tells me I already tried this a couple weeks ago when the issue first arose.

Next stop will be a smithy if that doesnt work.
