Nothing sounds like a Merlin. Hopefully that Lancaster makes the rounds again soon. Four Merlins goes great with a cold beer on the deck.

Two thousand interceptors from nowhere WWII story
Built in a non industrial area over two thousand Spitfires in secrecy. An incredible story of the dispersed war production of a sophisticated war plane.

They did a similar thing with the Mosquito, decentralizing its production. The airframe was wood so they put cabinetmakers and furniture companies to work on the subcomponents.

Thunder Bay Ontario was where they built Hawker Hurricanes

430 Lancaster bombers were built in Malton, Ontario.
