*UPDATE Any thoughts on HOWA/Weatherby in a GRS Stock?

    Hi.
I'm not a Precision shooter. I had a couple o.k bolt guns here and there. Best one was a Savage 10FCP HS Precision. (gone now, should have kept with the current out of control pricing - Got it for under $1000, believe it's $1500 now)
    Anyway. Browsing for something new.
I kinda like the Howa/Weatherby Line. Great reviews and great pricing. Kinda like Savage had before they jacked pricing.
Howa 1500 is well known as is the Weatherby Vanguard line.

Has anyone seen or used a GRS stock? Both companies offer models with this stock.
Or just plain Heavy Barrel rifles....you can always throw it in your own MDT Chassis.

Any thoughts on these? I am not worried about dressing it up to look TactiCool...or pretend I can shoot a mile. Just having fun and learning new skills.

A picture of what I am talking about.

I have built a few nice target rifles on the Howa action. ( Mossberg 1500, S&W 1500, ect)
I like the wooden stocks , but the composite ( plastic ) stocks seem to be a touch more stable and worry free in the long run.
In getting a target/varmint stock I would suggest something which gives you the most adjustable options.

I like howa rifles, the laminate adjustable stock would be fun to try, and assuming they use the standard floor plates - they have a dbm which is easy to add.
    Seems like a win.

I am also interested in the howa grs model. They offer it in the "berserk" stock which seems to be a carbon fiber kind of composite.
Can't seem to find it anywhere in Canada though.
It is one of several Howa models on my list of possible "only rifle I get to buy" contenders.

    Well.... 18 months later.
    Better late than never.

Howa M1500 .308 in the new ORYX chassis from MDT.
Every picture from every source shows the rifle with either a scope rail or a rail and scope.
I thought it at least came with the rail..... I guess not? Lame.

So here begins my Precision Journey. I think this is a good starting point.
