Student Market Research Survey: Private Indoor Range, Ottawa

    Hello!

I'm currently taking a Market Research class in my college business program, and as an assignment I've created a survey to measure and analyze the market needs and wants for an indoor firing range in the Ottawa region.

If you live or frequently travel in the area, I would love to hear what you have to say about the potential business. It should only take a few minutes, and your time is greatly appreciated.

All respondents and your answers will be completely anonymous, even to me.

Thank you for your time and your interest!

If it were a decent range, don’t discount the amount of guys you’d get from the Petawawa Army base.

To shoot on base you have to belong to a club, and Army ranges are very austere with just berms.

A high tech indoor range with seating and benches would bring quite a few people, I’d think.

If you could pull off the full 100m and not just 25m it would be awesome.

Welcome aboard, I like your project. (It was always fun watching TAs eyes bug out when they realized the topic of a project.)

    A little constructive criticism:
-Lose the term "Sniper Rifle" in favour of "Precision Rifle". You're talking to Civilians not Military.
-Some people will not want to say which club they're currently a member of, presuming they have one.
-A couple of your final questions would be nice if we could leave comments. (Or even a comment box at the end.) Ex. Multiple people sharing a lane: It's fine presuming they're taking turns and not goofing off. Ie One active shooter per lane, but swapping out is fine. Makes it more affordable and less of a waste to load mags.

[ETA] Given Petamocto's comment above, I sit corrected. You're probably talking to Military too. [/ETA]

Figuring out the restricted and invite question would likely go a long way to get people who are visiting the area to show up. (I know I would.)

After taking the survey, I find that it's too fixated on hourly rates.

I don't want to pay an hourly rate on a range, and I don't want to book time.

I'd rather pay an annual rate and use it whenever I feel like it.

You could possibly add a comments section at the end. And some of the yes/no questions could have a "maybe" option added to them.

Honestly, I just thought that seeing some basic demographics would give me a couple extra talking points for the final hand-in. Thanks a bunch for your time!

I totally forgot to specify in the survey, goodness. The range would be 50m. Thank you for taking the time to respond and comment

The issue there arises when there are only three lanes available. Would you not get annoyed pretty quickly if you paid a flat annual rate and it was always full when you wanted to go?
