Just 9mm and 223 for me.

9mm I am presently using 231 but will switch after its gone. I just picked up around 15k AIM bullets, so I am good for a while. Primers are whatever is in stock, but prefer federal.

223 haven't got a load yet. Only reloading it for accurate long range 3 gun stuff. Looking to get something that is sub-moa out of my 18" 1:8 rifle. Gonna start with 69gr SMKs, 68 gr Hornady BTHP and some 60gr VMAX. Cause these will be used for 200 to 500 yard shooting, I'll likely favour the heavier bullets with higher BCs

BTW, i hate reloading, with a passion. Have way better stuff to do with my time Having said that, there is a certain satisfaction reloading accurate rifle ammo that I don't get from pistol reloading.

I think I'm missing a couple or three others.

I have dies and brass here for about a dozen different cartridges, but currently only load for .223 as that's all I own for rifle center fire at the moment.

Onagoth, try 69MK's with 25.0-25.4gr Varget. I was using an experimental load of 25.2 at the range that looked great, guy beside me commented that after extensive testing his load is 25.3. At 25.9 I had flat primers and mild cratering - would shoot it but not on a hot day - but it wasn't nearly as good as the 'cooler' load. In a 1:9 Rem 20". Did not chrony it yet, expect 2800-2850ish.

I've tried the 60 Amaxes in 3 or 4 different guns, could never make them shoot super tightly. Loved 80gr Bergers in my old Savage bolt 1:7, obviously those won't work for an AR unless you want to single feed.

I have read a lot of positive reviews of varget, but also read that it meters poorly. I will be reloading these through my progressive press and not individually charging cases.

    Thoughts?

Sorry, no experience with progressive. I have an RCBS Chargemaster, which works just fine with any powder I've tried.

What I like about Varget is its diversity for use in different calibers, and its relative temp stability. The only time I had a problem was on a SMOKING hot day, where I was using loads in a .308 that I knew were hot to start with. It was during a competition and I got some serious pressure signs, so went to my backup load. Of course, I failed miserably because I hadn't made proper notes about the backup load and had a lot of trouble getting on target at 500M and up. Other than that, I find it shoots very consistently (not dead on but close) from -20C to +27-30C.

Varget didn't work well for me. Progressives just plain work best with ball and flake powders.

Still, if you think that powder suits your needs best, consider processing your cases on the progressive, then charging your cases seperately.

It sucks, but one of the new electronic dispencing scales could work for you.
