3 gun with a mag fed , semi auto 12g

    Hi folks

I have some questions for you guys running the Derya's, Typhoons etc. for 3 gun

Obviously the 5 round 12g mags for these are physically big, much bigger than your AR type mags.

How many mags do you carry with you on a course of fire? How do you carry them? What pouches do they fit in?

    Thanks in advance

"...these are physically big, much bigger..." Close to or the same size as a .308/7.62NATO rifle mag. Same mag pouches. At least, in the old days, when there was an 870 conversion kit that used M-14 mags(FN mags are close to the same size), that's what was used.
    The 5 round Derya mag is 18 x 9 x 4 cm's(7" x 3.5" x 1.6") An M-14 mag is 1" x 3" x 6.25"(2.54 x 7.6 x 15.9 cm). Close enough for an issue mag pouch.
Number of mags, at $40 a pop for 5 rounders, depends on on the course of fire. Mind you, the mag pouches aren't exactly cheap either, but you can get a 2 mag pouch for $20.

Awesome thanks. I have 6 x 5 rounders for the Derya at the moment and want to make sure I get the right pouches for them. AR10 mag pouches should work then. What is the average round count for shotguns in 3 gun? Sorry for all the questions. Total noob when it comes to 3 gun.

I just sold my Derya because box-mag fed shotguns put you into open division and I wasn't prepared to make that kind of commitment.
That said the Derya was a lot of fun.

I found that 7.62x51 soft mag pouches fit the pinned 5-round magazines well. I had bought one of these as a test and it worked well:

The real issue is that all those mag pouches are commercial. Not exactly a bad thing. The days of military surplus kit being easily found and cheap at gun shows are long gone.
Bought a BAR mag belt when I bought the semi'd M-14 for about $20 or so. Holds 12 mags. Marstar wants $60 for one.($30 for a 4 mag, I think, C2 pouch) Usable with LC1 suspenders. $20 here. https://www.camouflage.ca/gi-type-en...c-1-suspenders
    $17.77Cdn on Amazon.ca.
Oh and the old CF Combat jacket, shirt or cold weather parka will hold about 10 20 round size mags(beer cans fit nicely in those pockets. 24 of 'em with a shirt and jacket on. snicker.) Very hard to find a combat jacket in any sizes but 'too small' though.
