Whats the Deal with the Southern Ontario Skeet/Gun Clubs

    Hey Guys and Gals,
As a few of you know I moved here (GTA) recently and have been actively looking to join some sort of gun club preferably with skeet and trap to exercise my shotgun discipline. I have called a couple places titsc.ca, barrie gun clun, burlington gun/revolver club and other outfits But many of them just dont pick up. I dont easily give up on things but this is very discouraging. I call during business hours, different days of the week and different times of day. Does anyone know if Toronto International Trap and Skeet is closed for the season? Their website isnt very clear. PLEASE HELP!!! Or I may find myself selling my firearms since they wont get any use down here...

As far as Barrie Gun Club is concerned, call Tuesdays after 18:00 or Sunday mornings.

I just cant believe how difficult it is to get a hold of some of these clubs. You are paying a pretty penny for memberships too you would expect some sort of service. Just my honest opinion. I used to live in Eastern Ontario and the clubs were run by volunteers and were always able to get a hold of the people at the range. No initiation fee, no club fee just a donation every time you passed the gates. What happened to our sport?

There's also Waterdown if it's just trap and skeet for now:

Not a member there. Most clubs are run by part-time volunteers. Forwarding the club phone line to someone cell could cause some problems at work and eat up all the free time so your message stays at the club office and everyone will try a pretend they can't see the red blinking light.

PM Skeetgunner, he's on the board at Burlington (I think he's on the board, wait.....wait............good. the care went away).

Or call Silverdale (if it's not too far for you) The office is closed Monday and Tuesday, the rest of the week Joan will return calls within a half hour.

Many if not most clubs in Ontario are not businesses they are clubs and non profit organizations run by volunteers. In my experience there are very few that have actual staff on hand.
You may not like guns, and choose not to own one. That is your right. You may not believe in God. That is your choice. However, if someone breaks into your home, the first 2 things you are gonna do are 1) Call someone with a gun, and 2) Pray that they arrive quick enough to save you.

Here are four other clubs with active clay target shooting. You might try and contact them during their shooting hours. Even better is to visit. Last I checked each club will permit non-members to shoot.

If you want to get ahold of them call between 6 pm and 10 pm during the week or just go to the website mentioned for info. This is a club not a gun shop so the clubhouse is not open all the time.

You could also try http://www.townsend-windhamfishandga...sociation.com/ in waterford. It's about 1 1/2 hr from toronto. Best is to call Tuesday 2-9, Thursday 12-9 or saturday 9-5 someone usually picks up.
