I have seen ranges with mandatory buffers ( a board in place that doesn't allow the barrel to be aimed over a certain angle upward ) in place to prevent people from shooting over the berm , luckily our club hasn't imposed them yet . Times are changing .

Well I made one, of course I don't know if it is acceptable because no one replied to my email. I will post pics if the range is approved. Funny how the initial approval didn't need my rules posted, a first aid kit (not a bad idea of course), barrel limiter, marked firing lines, GPS coordinates.

All handgun rounds, .22lr handgun and rifle, .223rem and calibers covered under the template.

Would have had it sooner but I am the master of procrastination.

Berm in the distance, just taking pictures of my Stag one day

I'll end up posting more pictures as I use it. Gonna be fun! I just wish I had it when the weather was warmer.

Your range is exactly the same as my friend's that's at the back of his 100 acre farm in northern Peterborough County. The only difference is he has trees planted on top of and behind the berm and down both sides at the fence line that separates the rear property line with his neighbor. It keeps it well obscured from nosy eyes and muffles the sound of gun fire. He doesn't use it as a club, although, friends are invited to use it occasionally to sight in rifles. He didn't tell anyone he was building it, he simply went ahead and did it. So far, there hasn't been a peep from anyone. The moral of the story is "The less said, the better". Besides, there's no law against target practice on one's own property.

I think the point of making it an official range is the ability to shoot restricted and prohibs without potential legal repercussions, versus say say NR rifles and shotguns for hunting season warmup

Yeah but your friend can't legally be shooting pistols or ARs (sad) there and when I bought restricted guns my range membership was in fact this said range in this thread no questions asked.

If I turn South when looking at my backstop I have a long range clear cut to shoot rifles. I could also move 50m North or South and shoot 1000m East outside of my range. The reason for the small range is to shoot restricteds.

    We aren't the same.
