Trudeau Blames His Voters For The Carbon Tax

    2 minutes
    Oct 6 2018

Reminds me of Bill C-71. In Bill C-71 the conservative committee members commented that they agree about public safety, just that conservatives are looking for effective solutions and the Liberals are looking for gestures.
With Climate Change, conservatives are saying that they believe in climate change but like Australia, Canada's carbon tax will hit our economy which is already experiencing less growth than other G7 nations and have no effect on the weather, and this is a gesture not a solution. Ontario's pollution improvements were pretty much entirely due to efforts south of the border, not due to Ontario Wynne Liberals closing any power plants.

They're going to be increasing the costs to get to work, increasing consumer debt levels, increasing deficits and national debt, for generations, in order to 'protect our children's future' with a method that will not affect climate change.

"CO2 is pollution". justin is breathing. justin is polluting ?

Do any of you get gasoline for your personal car for free? Are there any taxes for that gasoline? Is that pollution "free" ?

Would anyone be happier if Canada merely went on a massive tree planting binge ? (reduce wind, reduce flood movement, capture carbon, increase oxygen)

Corporations can redirect their spending to government approved sources, and negotiate trades in carbon taxes. The only people who can't are low income and middle class families.

His plan is to have working class Canadians pay for the world's pollution.

[amusing sarcasm] Canada has lots of forests. Justin should go to China, and demand that they pay Canada for cleaning the world's air. During NAFTA, when Trump said Canada should pay for USA defending Canada, Freeland should have said America should pay for cleaning their air.[/amusing sarcasm]

Didn't BC's economy grow due to LNG and fake housing bubble? "Everything in BC is more expensive."

    In this video, justin asserts
    - it's unfortunate to see that some politicians, conservative politicians specifically, that still think pollution should be free.
    - that his carbon tax will create new jobs, better solutions, and create an economy that will be sustainable long into the future
    - Liberals have expressed a desire to work in partnership with the provinces, but if they don't want to fight climate change using carbon taxes like we do, 'Canadians' are counting on the federal government to force them to. Liberals will force them to.
    - Citizens need to ask conservatives why they aren't putting a price on pollution, why they aren't thinking about future generations
    - most important geographic challenge of our time. (geographic?)
    - climate change represents a real threat to us now, with wildfires and floods and extreme weather events becoming more frequent and more and more costly
    - we have decided as a government, because Canadians asked us to in 2015 and because Canadians asked us to do this in 2015 (his repeat), to put a price on pollution. Pollution should not be free anywhere across this country.
    - that BC's improvements are due to the government's carbon tax. They saw both their emissions decline and their economy grow.
    - we will be moving forward in making polluters pay, as we support families right across the nation in this time of transition to a cleaner economy
    - smug smile. (got all his talking points in)

Give everyone who wants them 100 tree seedlings. Spend the money once, and these trees will spend a lifetime removing co2.
Why does the rest of the country get first dibbs on half my income?

That's kind of the way the Harper government did things. "If you'd like to do this, here's money to support it."
also "here's some money without strings".

As opposed to the Liberal way "Do this, or we'll do it to you." (or in the case of the Firearms Act "Do this, or we'll throw you in jail")

This intellectual midget needs to rub the contents of a large tube of PREPARATION Hģ on his ego and then smack himself with the empty tube until he's in a permanent coma. I think I have a very low, negative even, opinion of Justin the court jester!
We were told he wasn't ready, now we know he will never be!

It's one thing to say you have a mandate.

It's another to say Canadians voted for this.

In the 2015 election, the Liberals got 6,942,937 votes out of 17,591,468 votes cast. Out of 26,044,131 eligible voters. Out of 36.29 million population.
So, 60.5% couldn't have voted for that, or 73.3% couldn't have voted for that, or 81% couldn't have voted for that.
    (here, and here)

His platform had ~170 promises, of which this was one.
So of the 39% or 27% or 19% that voted for his party, only a subset of those would have voted for a carbon tax.

Again the crown prince of narcissism blames everyone else for his failures. Harper was right, Trudeau was not, is not and will never be ready to lead anything. (other than a herd of lemmings over a cliff) If you voted for this sakoshyte, punch yerself in the throat. If you know someone who voted for a carbon tax, punch them in throat. Leave bruises so the lesson is not soon forgotten.

Nobel Prize-winning economist says carbon taxes are the solution to climate change
    Oct 8 2018
William Nordhaus and Paul Romer won a Nobel Prize on Monday for their work on the economics of climate change.
The policy is very simple. If you just commit to a tax on the usage of fuels that directly or indirectly release greenhouse gases, and then you make that tax increase steadily in the future ... people will see that there's a big profit to be made from figuring out ways to supply energy where they can do it without incurring the tax.
We know that the market system doesn't guide people in the right direction when their actions impose costs on others.
So what we need to do is not just, like, preach or exhort, but we need to just say, "Look, we're going to start to put a tax on this."
And that will mean that the people who were thinking about using carbon-based fuels will ... have an incentive to switch, and others will have an incentive to discover new solutions.
