    Any idea what this is?

Hi everybody! So my father bought a house and we found this old musket in there. Would anyone have an idea what make or model this has been? I can't find any marks on it except for the numbers on the picture yet it looks like it was an homemade modification with all the nails..

Maybe a converted flintlock? All those extra holes and the pin look like they might’ve once held the frizzen, flash pan and spring. Looks like there might’ve been a date or something directly below the nipple, but it’s hard to tell with all the rust.

I thought so too, but the holes for the flash pan etc. don't go through the wood. Moreover the percussion cap an the barrel are one piece. From other photos I've seen on internet, the first percussion models seemed to still use the side plates from the flintlocks.

Might the numbers be related to bore size, powder weight, bullet weight, ect. ? Something to remind the owner what shoots good in it?

Maybe the lock was repurposed onto a new barrel and stock? That sort of thing certainly wasn’t unheard of.

Looks home made. Guy wasn't a black smith or a carpenter. You going to make it go bang? Does the action work?
    Cool find.

Look around is there someone you can introduce to shooting because thatís the only way we will buck the anti gun trend sweeping Canada! "tigrr 2006"

The action does work! I will be taking it to a gunsmith and hopefully have a chance to shoot it!

Looks awsome! Take that old girl to a gunsmith, you might be able to salvage it and get it shooting again.
