2018 Hunting Stories and Other Lies Thread

Well it's almost upon us, I'm getting the fall jitters and have been out practising with the old string and stick. Myself and three other buddies have an early season elk archery draw, headed into the woods September long weekend.

The nature I hope I'll see.....

All in all, it should be a proper sh**show, campfires will likely be out of the equation due to the dry weather though. (-1 hunting adventure point)

    What's everyone else up to?

    Ugh, hunting season.

I have a moose draw, a mule deer draw, and planning a trip back to Sask for whitetails.

And now I ended myself up in the middle of switching jobs, a new schedule, and maybe even a move.

Not going to be a lot of lies to tell.

So after the first weekend, it turns out that elk are actually just ghosts that leave poop behind.....

My wildlife interactions were limited to the grasshoppers that kept bouncing into my blind, one hawk that was just a little too interested in me, a whitetail doe and fawn already on the run from something else across the field and about a hundred a$$hole crows that decided this was the spot to hang out and be a$$holes for a few hours.

Lots of sign, but seems like we missed them by a couple days.

    Cows are so annoying.

Be me, first bow hunt. Hear a tree branch snap, aw yea this gon be gud. But wait it's just some cows. Dammit. They always find me. As dumb as they are they know when I am there.

Have a buck tag. November. Hoping for at least an 8 pointer.

Grandpa said wish in one hand, $#!+ in the other, see which one fills up first.

    Good advice.

Hoping to get enough geese to turn into a few pounds of pepperettes in addition to my hot pepper and cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped waterfowl breast specialty.
