Yep, at least for the 10/22 stock.

    Current thoughts on this setup:
I don't like the short barrel, mostly aesthetics.
On the look out for a 16-18" barrel, a VQ or Kidd I think, maybe dlask or another greybirch

Stock trigger is also a sore spot, like to put a kidd two stage in it but dang... costs as much as the whole rifle.
Maybe kidd's 'trigger job kit' or send the old trigger group to brimstone for a trigger job.

Bolt? Maybe after the trigger and barrel are what I want them to be.

Scope seems fine for the purpose. Stock is alright for now.

I used a diamond file to change the angle where the trigger and sear connect.
That lowered the trigger pull from around seven pounds to about two and a half pounds.

Placed an order for a dlask 16.5" fluted barrel.

But due to the covid 'surge' our shoots have been shut down again

I have the 597 with the 16” heavy barrel. It’s handy, and balances well. Pretty close to optimum in a synthetic stocked rim fire IMO.

There was a 597 at canadian tire for like $250? It was cheaper then the 10/22s and caught my eye for price.

Trying to fit that stupid barrel on tonight, it's in the freezer, receiver might go in the oven.

I currently have the grey birch receiver fitted with the dlask barrel mentioned above, in the magpul stock from before.

I think I snagged a Oryx chassis for it now. Should take the play out of the action/stock.
