    .22 shotgun in action

I fixed up this old Remington 121 Fieldmaster smoothbore .22 pump that I thought was kinda neat.

Here is a few pics depicting this wonderful firearm in actual use.
NOTE; it helps to wear camo to get close enough to the wary eyes of game given the limited power of the .22lr shotshell.

The Trap.. The wild beasts were traveling between their roost and their food source (same food source as ours ironically) under a corner of the camp door. A dab of peanut butter under a plastic fork was too much for them to bear (mouse) apparently...

    Hero shot..BIG GAME DOWN!
note the tightness of the shot pattern at 20ft, impressive to say the least! Mr. Routledge did his homework it seems. Hard to believe these critters can fit thru that thin gap under the corner of our camp door.
I love the smell of burning gun registrations in the morning.....

Sweet. I wish I could find a cheap smoothbore .22 for the same purpose.
the wild still lingered in him and the wolf in him merely slept

I thought about drilling the rifling out of an old .22 when I saw this gem hiding at Epp's. It wasn't in bad shape but would not fire because somebody had changed the bolt for whatever reason. I 'liberated' a replacement and fitted it and set the headspace and it cycles and fires just like new. Ive seen these go for 4-500 at gun shows in this kind of shape. I might have to sell it

Was that a Boone and Crockett Bull Mouse! What did he score? Who did the skinning and butchering? Your lucky he wasn't charging, they can be hard to stop when enraged!

My dad did the same hunting trip except against a pack rat and used a Winchester 94 in 30-30. Wasn't much left of the cabin after that though....

Have you got the mount back yet? Full body rampant would look good in the corner of the hunting lodge.

You need to stand well behind your kill when taking a picture, it makes the animal appear much bigger, it's an old trick that they use in all the mags.

I bought some .22 shot shells thinking the load just grenades on impact dispersing the shot.......NOT!
