So we have been working hard to bring sport shooting back to Canadian post secondary institutions. Figured it was about time for an update. We now have:
- 500+ student members
- 40+ competitive shooters
- 13 schools where we are working to start a club
- 9 clubs, 4 of which we helped start this year
- 1 goal: to educate students by bringing shooting sports into the mainstream at Canadian schools
We are working across the country to build new clubs. Our current clubs include:
AMS Shooting Sports at UBC
Carleton Firearms Association
Carleton Shotgun
LCSA Lethbridge College Firearms Club - new!
Mount Royal Firearms Club
University of Calgary Firearms Association
University of Saskatchewan Shooting Federation - new!
UVic Shooting Sports - new!
Western Firearms Association - new!
In 2019 we have effectively doubled the number of clubs in Canadian schools. Again big thank you to those who have gotten in touch and are working to make our shooting league a success. And a big thanks to GOC for supporting our efforts by giving us a forum. If you are interested in helping start a new club definitely get in touch!
In terms of programs, the smallbore postal comp is ongoing, and the National Trap and Skeet tournament wrapped up at the end of April. Here's a pic of Coach Dean and the Carleton crew freezing their asses off trying to practice:
