Well, after lots of tinkering with bullets and powders, I found a load that my .300 likes: 180 grain Hornady Interbonds and Hybrid V powder. The only problem is, now that I've loaded 50 rounds to keep for hunting purposes, I have no more interbonds as it was a box I bought a while back to try out with various rifles and cartridges. Now that I've found something to use them in, the bullets themselves are of course unobtainium. Well, since I have 180 grain TTSXs lying around, I will try them with the Hybrid V. Maybe that will be the magic powder for them as well.

Hybrid V seems to be the magic pixie dust for both my .300 and .338 Win mags with TTSX bullets. Now...onto the Ruger Hawkeye in 7mm Rem Mag...

Rookies! Back in the day I shot 5000 45acp in 6 months.
I just wish I was closer to the range I did that at now(15 hours away).
If the fires ever go out I will be headed to Burns Lake BC. 1000 yard range.
    Haven't shot a rifle since Sept 11 2022.
Living through you guys that do, keep it going.
Loaded some 45/70 before I broke everything down for moving. LIG

I finally got the pieces put on my shot shell press and cranked out enough rounds for a few weeks of practice.
When I got these components a couple years ago, the price of making a shell wasn't any screaming deal.
Wish I could still get shot for $25 a bag...
Why does the rest of the country get first dibbs on half my income?

Just loaded up some .308 rounds with 175gr SMKs and 42gr of IMR4064; essentially duplicating the US Army’s latest long range .308 loading. If it works for Uncle Sam, hopefully it will work for me as well.

I'm juggling 3 loads right now:

    150gn Hornady FMJBT, 48.8 - 49.5 gn CFE 223 with RWS LR
150gn Hornady Interlock SP, 48.8 - 49.5 gn CFE 223 with RWS LR
168gn Hornady Match FMJBTHP, 48.9 gn CFE 223 with RWS LR.

Oddly enough, at test firing, the Interlock's shot best of the 3, although my groups with the 168 gn were inconclusive (I blew the muzzlebrake off my Remington 700 and that totally threw my group off).

Over the years, I’ve found that plain Jane Interlocks can be surprisingly accurate. Also, somewhere recently l, I saw pics of someone’s muzzle break that was actually struck by the bullet as it left the muzzle…hopefully that didn’t happen to you.

Well, colour me surprised! Drew a doe tag for the first time in about 10 years! I’ve decided to go with .308 as my cartridge of choice for the deer hunt. 42 grains of RL15 behind a couple of different flavours of 150 grain Nosler gave good accuracy during some range time with my Ruger Scout Rifle this summer. So, I’m going to load what I have left of those bullets, but since they are now unobtainium in terms of new supply, I’m going to grab some ELD-Xs to try out of that rifle as well as…maybe my BAR, or my Tikka…or…
