JustBen knows what he’s talking about. The only difference between singles and the 27 yard handicap is that you are standing back another 33 feet. For long yardage I like to lower my gun hold to the top of the trap house so the amount of vertical movement in my swing is the same as in singles. You can make a case for a slightly faster shell from the back fence, but 2-3/4 dram loads will do the job. If you are shooting from the 20 yard line don’t change anything. See the bird, shoot the bird.

And I’ll take the opportunity to link one of my favourite videos.

Cowboy01, if you haven’t watched this one, its worth it.

"See the bird - shoot the bird."So true.

    Thanks for the video.
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

My brain still thinks - see the bird, panic a bit, shoot at the bird.

It happens. Shoot the next bird.

I do that sometimes too. Usually get to hear the word lost when that happens.

Ugh. The only thing worse is “lost - a pair”

I picked up a inexpensive hatsan that won't cycle target loads. Guess it is back to my savage pump for trap/sport clays.

    Gas operated?

The usual fix for the Turkish guns, from what I read, seems to be spending another hundred dollars on them in the form of buck or slugs to break them in before using target loads.

Shot lower scores this week than I have all month.
And I'm entering the tournament this weekend.
    I peaked too early.
Any tournament advice for a newbie?
Why does the rest of the country get first dibbs on half my income?
