What interests me more is the notion that aluminum tipped bullets are "new" technology. Aluminum tips have been used in bullets since prob the 1960's or maybe even earlier.
WWII 303 British ball ammo (Mk VII ball?) had an aluminum tip, though it was concealed in the FMJ. An effort to stretch out and streamline the projectile without adding weight, the Germans didn’t like it because it became unstable on impact and left a bit of a mess.....

Anyway, that should date it to some point in the 1930’s.
