Why Can't We Return To How Peaceful The World Was Before Guns?

Guns are a plague on mankind. They are the source of all violence in our modern world. Can you imagine how peaceful the world would be if guns didnít exist? Well, you donít have to imagine. There was such a time; itís called our distant past.

In the long, long ago, people lived in harmony. They had no choice but to, as they had nothing to shoot each other with. Theoretically, they had bows and arrows, but if youíve ever actually tried to use one, theyíre basically impossible to hit anything with. So if they had a problem, they just talked things out. If things got really heated, theyíd settle things with a riddle competition. And men were respectful to women, as there were no guns to enhance toxic masculinity. Also, politicians only ever did the will of the people since there was no NRA to buy them off. And no one knew anything about war, because how would you have a war without guns? Throw rocks at each other? Who could haul that many rocks to a battlefield? Itís impractical.

Life was basically as peaceful as a John Lennon song or a Communist country.

This all changed, though, when the inventor of guns (Bob Gun, I believe) created guns in his racism laboratory while trying to find ways to enhance racism. Since then, gun deaths have increased infinity-fold, from zero to more than zero. And there have been violence, murder, and, admittedly, some very entertaining John Wick movies. Also, think of all the wars since then. World War I. World War II. World War: Vietnam. World War: Desert Heat. And the World War prequel, World War Stories: The Civil War.

Itís no exaggeration to say things are now a million billion times more violent than before guns were invented. Itís past time to get rid of all the guns and go back to how peaceful and nice everyone was in ancient history. It wonít end all conflicts, but it will get pretty close. Weíll just have to think of some good riddles to stave off invasion.

Bill Whittle said something similar the other day in his useless video on "What You Can Do to a Survive or Stop a Mass Shooter Attack" (http://y2u.be/nI5dbfF4NYQ), where he argued, and I'm paraphrasing badly, that we were incredibly lucky in America in the 1930s-1990s to live in a country where everyone, including the tiniest among us, children, could safely and routinely go out alone every day, and the rule was that they had to be back before it was dark and the street lights turned on. No one remembers anyone carrying a gun in public. It was just something that was never seen. Doors were unlocked. That is not normal in the history of the world. We're now returning to normal, and it's shaking us to our core its so unfamiliar.

Which is very loosely based on the War of the Roses. Minus the dragons.

It was long before 216 BC that the first cave man picked up a rock. There was slavery. Peasants being routinely slaughtered by the nobility and assorted bandits. Plagues regularly reducing the population. Heaving an infected carcass over the walls into a city was normal. Hence biological warfare was accepted as routine. Rape, pillaging and burning were also normal.
"...they’re basically impossible to hit anything with..." Idiots guide to archery. English archers in the 14th Century could easily hit a man sized target at 300 or so yards. Practicing after church on Sunday was mandatory in Edwardian England.

Obviously someone with a deep understanding of humanity and its history on this planet but it neglects to mention that in the "distant past" humans lived in harmony with unicorns, bathed in fairy dust and frolicked in the meadows to the tune of kumbaya.
We were told he wasn't ready, now we know he will never be!

    Willful blindness.

In the early seventies we lived in Edmonton.

A young girl, six or seven, went to the corner store and was never seen again.

In the mid seventies, one of my supervisors in Calgary was telling one of our support staff how safe the city was and how no one needed a gun for protection.

The lad, who was dating a CPS dispatcher, pointed out that there had been a murder in the supervisorís crescent, just three doors down, earlier that week.

The fact that doors were not locked and people went about their business largely unconcerned had little to do with actual crime rates, just as the fact that doors are kept locked and children are escorted everywhere today has little to with actual crime rates.
To show that men can travel to the moon and return, use the American experience.

To show that public safety isnít hurt by responsible individuals carrying to protect life, use the American experience.

Man kind has been waring with mankind since before we stood upright. Chimps are known to club other chimps to death with random pieces of wood they pick up. Speaking of chimps....who wrote that story anyway ?
