when someone like Hickok 45 says it's one of his favorite cartridges, I tend to listen

it's like guys telling me I should shoot 45acp for the "stopping power" silly, we shoot paper targets at gun ranges, but I tell them 7.62 x 25 is much better, lol sacriledge until they watch this sort of thing

I agree Stew. The "25" is one heck of a good cartridge with the big variable being the quality or lack of quality with some of the surplus ammo.

Fast and accurate enough for what it was designed to do.

1500 fps hollow points are quite remarkable

    45acp is garbage, too!

If you want actual stopping power, you'd be using a revolver anyway.

But if you're fixed on a pistol, 10mm kicks 45's ass. More power with each bullet on target, and you carry way more in a magazine.

if you want actual stopping power you use a rifled slug, 437 gr at 1900 fps, likely 1 will be enough

I'll take the stopping power of a claymore, detonated remotely...using an SKS lol.

Ammo, camo and things that go "blammo".

Actually the Ruger 45ACP Redhawk is a good revolver and with hand loads (155gr)will hit around 1,000 FPS so it is NOT garbage in the hands of a competent shooter.

The problem is not the cartridge but the pistol as it is large and many are not capable of using the firearm effectively.

If you did a little research you might find stats on the Black Hills 135gr. 45ACP Honey Badger which is a excellent cartridge.

Stop slagging the 45ACP, it is a good ctg.

You should change your settings to allow 100 posts per page. Much easier viewing.

IIRC Wolf Gold is in the 1700 + for velocity and know some testers have found variables in other manufacturers up to 1,800 fps.

I think the Chinese built a sub sonic round as well. That would make a great round to suppress.

Await someone spouting the "25" is crap. I do find it interesting how some spout total BS on a gun or cartridge yet rarely if ever show credible data proving the point. It's like the people who slag the old .303. Still capable of hitting a target at a 1,000 yards in a decades old gun, modern no but still good.
