I will certainly try some gun shows but I am far from the big cities so that would be a trip with possibly little outcomes. Thanks for the suggestions!

You can try bidding on one currently in the GTA Guns & Gear Auction (damn you FALover for getting me hooked on auctions) being held Nov 24.
Pricey (current bid $1200 plus buyers fee and shipping) appears to be in decent condition.

That one above is much better than what you usually see, and is definitely worth $1200 if it's in the perfect condition they say it is, especially not being sporterized, and with original bayonet and sling.

There is another one on that listing that's the typical chopped and beat up one for $130 (so far), and they're saying ruse-free. Well worth $300+ just for the awesome straight-pull action to admire.

Edit: I just tried to bid $300 and someone else's auto bid beat me to it, so it will go for more than that.

FWIW, that is a HG rifle, not a standard issue one.

If it was produced for Britain after Canada switched to the SMLE, the sights are different. Also maybe a shorter barrel length? I can’t quite recall. Hard to tell from that photo. Some Canadian Rosses may have gone over to England at the onset of WWII as well, for Home Guard and Naval use.

It is a 1914 Home Guard rifle. It will have all the features or an early Mk. III rifle. It is not a rifle issued to, or used by the Canadian Army.
Just as there are commercial SMLE rifles and military issue SMLE rifles.
It all depends on what a collector is looking for.
