Nope. The NOS actually looks better in hand than in the photo. The scruffy one will be left as is to compliment the rest of the look that the Breda will have when done.

When I do one of these up I never add in the costs of refinishing parts, time or the cost of the tools or shop supplies. Speaking of time I should look into what stocks are on hand as they will need some finish work asap.

Starting with the Breda and the LMR tube. Clamped nice and tight in the barrel clamp.

Then a dab of the demons paste. Who decided that having it spread to everything was a desirable feature?

Add the receiver and a bit of tape as not to scuff anything up.

the little c-clamp and bar are for this wonder tool. this lets me know how far the frame gets twisted onto the barrel. As long as both numbers are the same it's darned near perfect.

    and on the gas cylinder.

back to the receiver and slowly snug it on till we get here.

And that's good enough for the Garand.

    Back inside where it's warm.
Remember to headspace with a stripped bolt.

and that's a wrap for the hard parts. From here it's just finding decent parts and sticking them all together.(more or less)

The Beretta with the Marlin barrel will be next. Got's to go shopping for a new Christmas tree first as the daughter wants to take our old big one for her and family's new place.
