    Yea, around the same time they were testing lasers for knocking out missiles. Both are energy intensive.
    I could see a nuclear powered drone based defense system with onboard lasers, capable of being airborne 24/7 and the ability to knock out plane and missile alike.

    Hopefully they don't become self aware.

    DDG 1002. The whole ship was built around having enough power for railguns. There are pretty significant issues, but when it works it's awesome.
