What planet do you live on? We bought FN's/F18's/Hercs/T33's/Aurora's/101's/146's/206's/C17's/C46's/BAe Hawks/T6's the list is endless and we were not regarded as a second rate country! is AU a second rate country? How about Israel, we know they purchase other countries aircraft, right??

Hard to fathom you refer to Canada as second rate yet remain in our military. Why don't you quit and join the army of a first rate country?

Drinking the Kool Aid..funny as mentioned I have talked with people who had direct/working knowledge of the Arrow, obviously you haven't and that is why you really have no idea just how good it was.

The major cost of building the Arrow was DONE as it was now flying, getting it to that point was the greatest cost. Tell me all the other countries that were "leap-frogging those planes". You don't understand economics. The Avro Arrow was important to Canada because it gave the country a sense of national pride. The Avro Arrow made the aerospace industry in Canada one of the best in the world and gave Canada the ability to compete with the best aircraft companies in the world. But you know better..

The Blackbird was NEVER meant to be anything more than a spy plane so no idea why you are so fixated on it!! IT NEVER WAS DESIGNED TO BE AND NEVER WOULD BE A FIGHTER/BOMBER.

Just to rub it in Canada designed and built the CANDU reactor...don't recall it bankrupting our country??

PS..We could have bought the ILTIS from VW for around $26,00.00 each however we had to have them built in Canada and the price ended up around $84,000.00 each.

Actually they tried to turn it into an interceptor : YF-12.
Including missiles and 125 mile bomber detecting radar.
