Brass is a large concern but it looks like one can scoop enough right now for $170 per 100 pieces ack!! 400 pieces should see me thru my life time I'd imagine.

Should I just get over it and just buy more ammo for the 45-70? I dunno why I always had such a hankering for a takedown.........
Sounds like another call to Kurt lol. I picked up a bag of Starline .455 brass from him. Admittedly it wasn't cheap but I didn't need much, it was new and it was available.

If I could afford it, I would get the rifle.

My two cents: go for it.

Affirmation by peers is always reassuring to foster the habit. I may have done something similar on a Harley Forum when I talked myself into my 124" S&S mill for the scooter...... lol

I owned all 3 commercially sold 450 Marlin lever-guns at one time (Marlin 450M, BLR in 450, Winchester 94 Trails End).
I got $1500 for the “real Marlin” JM Marlin 450M, sold the Trails End because it kicked like a mule and sold the BLR stainless ‘81 takedown for more than I paid for it new.
The BLR was the most accurate of the 3.
The 45-70s I owned did the same job and cases were much easier to get.
The 450 Marlin is on the fast track to becoming obsolete.
