    I'm going from my knowledge of chinese markings and the sks, maybe the m14s are more logically numbered?

    Well from all that reading, it sounds like a real crap shoot, whether a US or Chinese made riffle will be any good, at least the author didn't bash the Chinese made ones, you might even get from it he prefers them over the US made.

    lone-wolf makes a good point in that the serial numbers are all over the place depending on which factory produced it and which importer brought the rifles in. Below is a sample list of serial numbers and some of the variation.
