    First range day

So Iím a new firearms owner, only got my PAL in December. Picked myself up a Russian SKS with Tapco stock and just recently a Springfield MC Operator 1911. Took them both to the local indoor range yesterday. Was the first time for both of them. Shot 40 rounds at 120í with the SKS. Shot 50 rounds at 30í with the 1911. Overall Iím happy other than the SKS is shooting low so I did turn the front sight in a full turn but wonít know till next time if that helps.

1911 on left, SKS on right.

120' is 40 yards. The SKS is not shooting low, you are shooting it at too short of a distance. The bullet is still rising to meet a ca. 100 yd zero.

Notice how the sights are a fair ways above the bore? The bullet has to rise to meet the line of sight of the sights. So you have probably corrected a problem that did not exist ..... which means you've screwed it up.

Appreciate the feedback, don’t think you had to be so mean about it. So I guess I can’t turn my front sight back out a turn since I screwed it up eh?

    You’re awesome!

Pretty decent grouping for first time out shooting/function test. Nice looking 1911 too.

Thanks guys. I really enjoyed my range day. Lots to learn and lots of practicing to be had. The first 50 rounds through my new 1911 were hiccup free. I used Blazer Brass and since it worked well I picked up 100 more rounds of it. Can’t wait to get out again.
