The Savage64 is OK, but #1- not bolt & #2- not as good as a Marlin 60 or 795 which are in the same price range - $250. Either Savage or Marlin bolts are great in their price, but a few $$ more get into a CZ or Tikka.

The Ruger American is great option. I do not have the 22 but I have a 22-250 and made a great neck shot on turkey with it at over 120 yards in Texas. They are accurate for the price. My son has the 17 hmr version and its tack driver too.

I have one of those. I enjoy it but with everything going on I wanted a bolt back up.
