Maybe rename this thread "Camo tung vs harbl_the_cat"? It stopped being about ammo prices several pages ago.

It's funny to think that maybe all the MilSurp Soviet-era ammo we were all buying was just the tip of the iceberg in terms of all that there was...
It's funnier to think that it might all be gone once the war in Ukraine is over...
I think a LOT of people are going to be getting into reloading in the near future.
I wonder how much ammo I could sell at gun shows...

I know this is Chinese but $0.41 / round for steel case 7.62x39 Milsurp?
I remember picking this stuff up for $0.22 / round.

This sucks... this is why I stockpile Pewter I scavenge from thrift stores.
I found 1 small silver plated antimony cup out of about 50 lbs of pewter.
I was thinking of getting into doing hard cast .223 rifle loads and was saving that (and any other antimony I find at the Thrift Stores) just for that.

Antimony is really good for hardening up bullets not a big deal for FMJ and plated - but if any of the major ammunition produces use antimony as an input to their alloys, even for FMJ or plated bullets, this still will factor into the input cost of ammo.
I bought some Seirra 69 gn SMK's yesterday.
If they used a tiny amount of antimony in the lead alloy inside the jacket, they can't just not use it anymore or else the ballistics of the bullet would be completely different.
That's not a big deal with pistol bullets, but with match grade rifle bullets, that's a big deal.
Also just look at the price of copper!
It's at 70 year highs!
If this keeps going, you're going to see guys scavanging for .22 LR brass from the outdoor ranges because it would be worthwhile to recycle it.

Easiest thing to reload is 12g shells. As long as you got hulls and primers, you can substitute everything else. Cloth rags, black powder, gravel, glass etc. Depending on the purpose for the shell of course. Hunting you'll still want lead or steel.
