    Shopping for Precision Rifle.....

So I'm at that point, I should clarify that it will mostly utilized as a beanfeild rifle on my buddies hunting lease. The permanent stands all have tables to set up on and I think I'm fairly set on the non-manbun .308 and no carbon wrapped barrels.....

Like to keep the price of admission around the 3.5K Canuck Buck mark, my buddy is all hung up on Christensen Arms and his 6.5 rifle performs very well but I just don't want to blindly follow. What would y'all be snooping?

    Cheers!

    EMP?

At $3.5K you can get into custom built.

And of course you could chamber it in one of Hubels cartridges.

Save some money and get a Bergara B-14 HMR and use the rest for the scope?

There's one at the range I like.

Have been watching 9 Hole on you tube and Henry Chan did a good video on the Ruger precision. Now that guy can shoot and proves you really don't have to spend a inordinate amount to get a good rifle. He has a Remington 700 in .308 and his ability with that is amazing.

Also a good review on the AI AE Mk 1 out to 1,100 yards.

Know a muni cop who had a AI for work, said it was very good but IIRC at over 9 grand it better be.

Some great guns have been built by Mystic Precision in Summerland.

Depends what you are expecting for precision?

Couple of questions that you’ll need to consider when it comes to budgeting...

What’s the projected max shooting distance? ... determines caliber and selection of optics
Do you currently have reloading equipment? ... determines how much u need to put aside for chrono, etc.
Have you done any long range shooting before? ... determines additional kit to get like bean bag, bipods, etc.

A good starting caliber would be .308. Lots of supplies, upgrades and range of pills to use.
If it’s your first crack at long range shooting, don’t spend a ton getting the best rifle, rather spend on good optics - you can always upgrade to large caliber later.

I know what it is, but I'm tempted to say that it looks like a car jack. Fuggggly!

EM Precision. They do some pretty sweet stuff. Give them a call and discuss what you're after and what your options are for that price.
