I've seen stupid stuff like people gunned down over parking spots at CVS stores and been to gun shows where everything from AK's and AR's to snub .38's were for sale to anyone with cash......no questions asked. I watched my BIL and SIL pack heat just going to church "just in case".....yep,church.....really. You can't tell me about "Home of the brave, land of free" when you need to be armed to go to church. That whole society is furckin' insane. Would I ever agree to the same attitude here? There isn't a snowballs chance in hell and me being a normal rational citizen no different than the vast majority,I'll bet a week's pay neither is anyone else.

There's some justification in what you say.
I go to church when I'm stateside but if I was there now I'd be packing my GP100 just about everywhere which is not something I usually do.
One thing about getting shot near the church is that they don't have far to pack your carcass to bury you.
I won't be going to the NH homestead hunting this fall ... first time I haven't gone in 20 years ... won't go back until things cool down a bit.

Like Canada, the US has good areas and bad.

Go to the sh*t-stain that is Toronto, downtown Montreal, Central Edmonton or Calgary, Vancouver, etc and you've got areas that are anything but safe. They have segments that are cesspools in every sense of the word and extremely dangerous. Of course the same can be said for many of the big cities in the US, especially those that are run by Democrats (Chicago, Balitmore, etc all have extremely dangerous areas). Choose to live in any of the above, and it's your own damn fault.

But go to smaller towns and rural Alberta, Sask, Maritimes, etc and you will find very friendly people and safe communities. Same is true with the US. In Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho or Colorado as examples I feel safer than I do anywhere else on the planet, including Canada. Part of that is due to the fact that the people in these areas are the salt of the earth, friendly, giving, and polite.

Also, in the US, I'm packing. So in the off chance that things do go sideways I can look after myself. In Canada, I feel far less safe because it is established in law that I cannot arm and protect myself. Rather it is expected that I will simply cower and die for the greater good and a "safe society"...er, a "safe society" that just forced my premature demise by not letting me protect myself...ironic, eh.

I'm both a big C (Conservative or Republican if you like) and big M from a family with a long history of military service (myself included) and I would trade in a heartbeat our whole as you so succinctly put it, "furckin' insane society" (Marxist, progressive freeloading and socialist with not real property rights or true freedoms) if I could for the same rights and freedoms and ability to succeed as I would have and hold if I lived in the USA.

The USA did not become the most successful, advanced, powerful, free and wealthy society in the world because it was insane, I wish I could say the same about our society that takes all it gets from the USA for granted (security and wealth among many others) and would likely be the equivalent of Cuba without the USA as our neighbor and protector. If the world did not have the USA as a protector and force for freedom we all would likely be living under some form of totalitarian dictatorship by now.

Most Canadians have no idea how truly lucky they are to have the USA as a friendly neighbor who puts up with having such a freeloading and progressive socialist trading partner who never truly carry's it own weight and is now full of so many spoiled, condescending and arrogant citizens.

Does the USA and it's society have problems? sure it does, but they are nothing like the problems we would have without them as our neighbor, major trading partner and guarantor of our sovereignty and security.

In Canada it is. Should it be? No. But it is.
"I don't have a firearms problem; they all work perfectly well." - Strike that. I do have a problem; the gov't has decided some are too dangerous to own.

In politics seeing is ten tenths of believing.
Even MacKay (eliminated thank Goodness unless he crosses to the LPC side where he belongs) did his token electioneering pro-gun strut & spiel ... all BS of course from that red tory.
There'll be opportunities to put O'Tooles sincerity to the test.
