Some spots are funny like that. My buddy’s backyard consistently produces several nice bucks every year, it’s an oddball piece of property without much for crop around.
I saw seven bucks in one morning the other weekend, out of the blind I did most of my hunting in this year. That blind is about 20 years old now, I’ve lost track of the number of deer taken from it. I took my buck this year 300 yards South of it. Probably could have taken him from it actually, but I’d seen a big deer way down the field and wanted to be closer to the action.

My wife's cousin and his boy each shot a deer this weekend.

Not bad for a 12 year old's first deer

And his dad got a nifty looking mule buck

These two, mine, and one other one my brother in law missed all came from the same spot behind my house.
I keep thinking we're going to the well too many times, but this year, this spot keeps on producing.
First buck? Hell, I wish I had one like that now. Congrats to the kiddo.

I set a dripper out tonight to see if I can get the diesel from post 43 to loiter in the area past 530 am...
Going to give it another shot Thursday morning.
Told my non paying "emergency" customers nothing is getting done for the next week and a half... suck it.
    Wish me luck.

    Birds man, birds......

Tons of birds this year. Got my first gray partridge ever, a fine looking bird. I can't believe how overrun Central AB has become with Mulies! Very few mature WT seen so far this year but a ton of the other buggers that know their name isn't on the tag!

Below is a composite picture of all the grouse I've either seen or taken while out over the past few weekends.

the wild still lingered in him and the wolf in him merely slept

Haha! Everybody keeps saying that the birds are everywhere and that every time they are out they keep seeing them in fantastic numbers. I have not been made to suffer the burden of seeing grouse behind every bush.
