    1942 Remington 1903 restoration.

Picked this baby up in an auction a few months back. It was in pretty rough shape. Turned out nice though
Has a SA-42 Flaming bomb marked barrel, which I'm told is normal in an earlier Remington.

A '42 made barrel on an '03 wouldn't be unusual. Remington didn't start with '03A3's until 1942 and made '03 Modifieds(very slight differences from an '03, but that what yours is.) until May of 1942.
Pretty decent article about 'em here.

Oh and '03's shoot really well. Any regular .30-06 will do but IMR4064 and 168 grain match bullets will make you think it's a match rifle.
Worst part about 'em is that the proper 18" bayonets are horrendously expensive.

There's all kinds of good info on-line. Sadly some of the best sites are gone now.
